Take a look at that face — THE face of golf. Not only did Phil Mickelson play an amazing final round of golf at the Masters Tournament yesterday, he immediately acknowledged the importance of his family as he accepted his accolades in the winner's circle. I have never been a great fan of golf on television, or in person for that matter, but I became a believer as casually watched the last nine holes play out Sunday afternoon.
I held my breath as Mickelson put on his green jacket and stepped up to the mic to say a few words. I couldn't help but think that he would somehow mention Tiger Woods in his speech — I was afraid he would thank him for coming back to the sport. I was greatly surprised that he didn't mention Tiger's return and focused solely on his caddy, his mentor and his family. Awesome role model.
