Student Power

It’s amazing to see bright, young energetic students that are passionate about a cause – passionate about humanity – articulate why they are occupying their college campuses.

They’re passionate about stopping an American-funded war machine from their genocide against an indigenous people. They’re passionate that an occupying force of over 75 years cease their brutal attack on an unarmed civilian base. They’re passionate that the world’s strongest and best-funded army stop their strangle-hold siege on a people they hold in an open-air prison, and allow them to breath and move freely. They’re passionate that food and water not be weaponized. They’re passionate that their school not invest funds in an apartheid state whose racist ideology allows for all of this to happen without regard or account for the international laws being broken.

These are bright young people that have educated themselves and who refuse to be fooled by a well-oiled propaganda machine. And like we’ve seen historically during the civil rights movement, during the opposition to our involvement in Vietnam, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the fall of apartheid in South Africa’s, Occupy Wall Street and the Black Lives Matter movement – this is a watershed moment in our history and I could not be more proud of the students have found their voice as they stand on the moral high ground.

They’re passionate, and that gives me hope for the future.
